Game Recap: Baseball |

Power Outage

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Valley Forge Christian College baseball team competed in their first double-header of the 2014 season, traveling to Gallaudet University, Saturday, March 1.  The Bison defeated the Patriots in convincing fashion on a very cold and windy Saturday, taking the first game 25-1 and the second game 18-0.

The Patriots came into the game with one of the youngest teams they have fielded in recent years.  It took several innings for the men to get out their first game jitters, falling severely behind by the fifth inning.  At the top of the sixth, the Patriots were able to score their first run off of a hit from Jared Boothman to bring in Matthew McKenzie.  The men were able to keep the Bison scoreless in the bottom of the inning but gave up three more runs by the end of the game.

The second game proved to be just as difficult, but without a bench to provide relief, the men pushed their way through.  The Patriots were able to limit the damage to just 18 runs but were unable to get on the scoreboard themselves.

The Patriots take the week to relax and regroup before heading to Camden, NJ to play host college Rutgers-Camden.  It is scheduled as a just a single game for Friday, March 7, with a start time of 3:30pm.

Go Patriots!
