BRYN MAWR, PA- The women's basketball team capture victory in their final road game of the season, Tuesday, February 18, over Bryn Mawr College. From the start the Patriots controlled the game and held it until time ran out, defeating the Owls, 54-47!
The Owls led in the game first, with a three-pointer before the Patriots' Jerlyn Ellis made good on a layup to tie it up at three a piece with 17:21 on the board. The Patriots pushed their lead to eight, 13-5, five minutes later before allowed the Owls to pull within one, 13-12, with just over five minutes left to go in the half. The teams went point for point until the buzzer sounded for halftime, with the Patriots holding a 20-17 lead over the Owls.
Into the second stanza, the Patriots continued to lead but the Owls stayed right on their heels, getting as close as two points away, 29-27, with just over 11 minutes to go. Finally with a double punch combination from Taniyah Faison and Mikala Brinson, the Patriots pushed their run into the double-digits, leading by 11 points, 41-11, with 7:04 to go on the board. Despite the Owl's best attempts for a last minute comeback, the women protected their lead and finished the game with the win!
Mikala Brinson led a standout game, recording a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds, in addition to six steals.
Jerlyn Ellis grabbed 10 boards with three steals.
The women return home for their final game of the regular season against Central Penn College, Saturday, February 22. The game is set to start at 1pm. The team will be participating in their annual Coaches vs. Cancer game that day as well.
