PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The women's basketball team competed again the Trinity Baptist College Eagles in the second round of the Holiday Inn Express Tip-Off Classic. Slow off the line, the Patriots struggled to contain the Eagles quick paced offense and fell, 42-77.
It seemed as though someone had let all the air out of the Patriots' tires. Although the Patriots were the first to score, low energy and slow defense allowed the Eagles to have free reign over the court. The Patriots managed to grab more rebounds, stalling the Eagles momentum at times, but unable to transition into a smooth offensive, the Patriots couldn't convert for the point. At halftime the women were facing a 15-point deficit, 16-31.
It was the same story throughout the second half as the Eagles steamed ahead. The shooting combination of Freshman
Bailey Mayforth and rebounding from
Ariene Ohimor started to give the Patriots bursts of energy, but not enough to undo the damage done from the first half.
In the loss
Bailey Mayforth recorded 12 points and 12 rebounds, while
Ariene Ohimor had 12 rebounds, 10 points and two assists.
The women look to end the weekend on a win against Johnson University (TN). The game is scheduled for Saturday, November 22, at 4PM.
Go Patriots!
