PHOENIXVILLE, PA- Before heading home for fall break, the men's soccer team hosted Delaware Valley College for a 4PM game. Fighting against the wind and rain, the men gave up three goals to the Aggies while recording just a single goal for themselves.
The Aggies were quick on the attack, railing off a series of shots from the whistle. Patriots goalkeeper
Zach Barbieri stood firm letting nothing go by. The teams went back and forth, testing the defensive lines until finally at 36:11 Aggie player, Kevin Robinson, sent a kick high and watched it sail right through the hands of Valley Forge's goalie. The visitors were now on the board, going up 1-0. The Patriots took a few more attempts before the end of the half to even the score but couldn't find a way to connect the ball to the net before time ran out in the first half.
After the break the teams turned up the intensity, getting more aggressive as the Patriots looked to even the score and the Aggies hoped to extend their lead. At 64:02,
Selom Dodoh received a pass from
Kevin Carbajal and out-maneuvered Aggie goalkeeper, Austin Brotman, sending the ball into the back of the net and even the score at 1-1!
The excitement was short lived for the Patriots as the visitors quickly responded with another goal of their own from Steve Mannato at 64:56. Thirteen minutes later the Aggies pushed themselves ahead even further, recording their third goal of the game to go up, 3-1, and secure the win.
The team takes a short break before returning to action, Tuesday, October 14. The Patriots will travel to Bryn Athyn College to compete against the Lions at 4PM.
Go Patriots!
