Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Gives Up Early Lead Against Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, PA- The men's soccer team traveled to Bryn Athyn College to compete in their second to last road match of the season. After scoring early the Patriots were unable to maintain their lead and gave up the game, 2-5.

At the sound of the whistle both teams started their attack, taking repeated shots at their opponent's goal. Both goalies held strong, making several key saves, keeping the game at 0-0 until at the 19:26 mark Ezana Asrate broke through the defensive barrier. Securing a pass from Selom Dodoh, Asrate shot the ball past the Lion's goalkeeper to put the Patriots up, 1-0!

Less than four minutes later the Patriots extended their lead with another goal from Matt Blankenship! The men, now up 2-0, had little time to revel in the glory of their lead as the Lion's looked to take back the game and defend their home field. Over the next seven minutes the Lion's answered both Patriot goals with goals of their own to tie the game, 2-2. Three minutes before the break the Lion's broke free of the tie game to go up by one, 2-3, with an additional goal.

After halftime the Lion's solidified their advantage of the Patriots with two more goals at 47:16 and 71:22, both coming from Lion's player Siafa Dempster. Unable to come up with an answer of their own, the Patriots saw their possible win disappear and yielded by a final score of 2-5.

The Patriots return home for senior day, Saturday, October 18. The men will host The King's College at 3PM.

Go Patriots!
