Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Records Win on The Road!

SUMMERDALE, PA- The women's volleyball team competed in their first game in nearly a week, going up against Central Penn College. The Lady Patriots started off their week right, securing a 3-0 victory over the Knights.

After taking nearly a week off for Fall Break, the Lady Patriots jumped right into action with an away game against the Central Penn Knights. Feeling the fatigue of the break the women were lethargic in their play as the Knights grabbed an early lead. Slowly starting to find their fight, the Lady Patriots overcame the point deficit and tied the game at 17-17. The teams went back and forth, showing force at the net and giving little room on the floor to give up the point. Finally the Lady Patriots managed to eliminate all of their errors and find the holes in the Knight's defense to take set one, 25-23.

Into set two, the women found secure footing in strong serves, pushing ahead of the Knight's after going point for point early on. Building upon their lead, the women showed solid defense allowing nothing to hit the floor and pushing the ball to get the Knights out of system. The women sailed to victory taking set two, 25-10.

As set three got underway the women capitalized upon the momentum built from the victory in set two. Utilizing their strongest asset, serves, the women built a solid cushion and pushed ahead of the Knights, 15-8. Feeling too comfortable with their lead, the Lady Patriots started to make simple mistakes and became sluggish in transition allowing the Knights to go on a four-point run and stay right on their heels, 15-12. Feeling the pressure, Valley Forge started to push, attacking harder from the net. Able to just gain a point or two at a time, the women couldn't shake the Knights looming presence as the host school stayed within reach of the visitors, 20-18. Finally getting on a small run the Lady Patriots broke free of the Knight's grip and strung together several points to take the set and match, 25-18!

Gabrielle Martin collected 12 kills along with 14 digs and three aces. Mackenzie Thibodeau played an excellent game with seven kills, while Madison Arrowsmith finished with six kills, eight digs and three aces.

The women travel once again to compete against Penn College of Technology, Thursday, October 16. The game is set for 7PM.
