PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The women's basketball team hosted their final game of the week, Thursday, January 30, The Patriots' competed against the Bryn Athyn College Lions and despite trailing by just three points throughout the majority of the first half, the Patriots gave up the game in the second period and were defeated by the visitors.
The first two minutes were less than desirable, with the Patriots committing six turnovers and scrambling to set up their offense. A quick timeout from the home bench reset the Patriots' mindset and they started to challenge the opponent. The Patriots stayed right on the Lions' heels, getting within three points, 23-18, after jumper from
Taniyah Faison with 6:26 left on the board.
Then just as quickly as the Patriots got hot, they cooled off. Two back-to-back turnovers from the women seemed to rattle Patriots and in the blink of eye the Lions' had gone on a 17-0 run to be up 40-18 going into the break.
In the second half the women couldn't harness the errors and saw their chances of a comeback slip away. The game came to a final close, 35-75, in favor of the Lions.
Mikala Brinson knocked down 17 points and grabbed five steals in the loss.
The Patriots get a short rest before hosting East Region rival Cairn University, Monday, February 3. The women are set to compete against the Highlanders at 7 pm.
