ALLENTOWN, PA- The women's basketball team traveled to Cedar Crest College, Wednesday, January 15. Illness combined with injury created a slow start for the women leading to the Falcons victory over the Patriots, 35-56.
The Patriots found themselves out played against the Falcons. Failing to hold their ground at the boards, the Patriots were denied second chances to score and couldn't take advantage of the open shot. The Falcons held a commanding lead of 23-9 going into the break.
Into the second half the women were able to pick up a little steam and put points up on the board. It wouldn't last long as the Patriots only faced further trouble.
Rachel Guerrieri took a hard fall, resulting in a game-ending injury. One by one the Patriots got into foul trouble, forcing them to play with extreme care. By the time the clock ran out the Falcons had done their damage, sending the Patriots home without the win.
Mikala Brinson led the team in scoring with 13 points, while
Ariene Ohimor grabbed 11 boards.
Amanda McGinness played solid with 8 points and seven rebounds.
The Patriots take a short break before returning to The Pit, January 20. The women host East Region opponent Lancaster Bible College at 7 pm.
