PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The Valley Forge Christian College women's soccer team lost on Thursday to Washington Adventist University (Tacoma Park, MD), by a 4-0 final score.
Thursday's game was a tough loss for the Patriots as they came out flat right from the opening whistle. The Washington Adventist Shock saw Valley Forge on their heels and netted two goals in the first fifteen minutes of the game. The Patriots were able to regain their composure and carried that deficit into the halftime break.
The Patriots started off the second half strongly as they were able to knock a few shots towards the Shock net minder. As the game rolled on, the Shock was able to add an additional two goals late to carry them to victory.
Elizabeth Swan and
Rachel Stormes recorded the only two shots on goal for the Patriots, and goal keeper
Amanda McGinness recorded 11 saves on the day.
Head Coach Karla Polli stated after the game, "Amanda and Kelli played very well today; the referees noticed their solid play and commented on their aggressiveness and drive. We have been working on playing fundamentally sound soccer lately. We've seen glimpses of this recently, but have yet to put it all together for a solid ninety minutes."
Up next, the Patriots will host Christendom College on Saturday, September 28. Kickoff originally was scheduled for 11 am, but the game will now begin at 12 noon.
