PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The men's soccer team endured another severe loss on the road against Penn State Abington, Sunday, September 22. The Patriots were overcome by the Lions with a final score of 1-13.
Facing the Lions without a bench, the Patriots were quickly overpowered by the host schools' offense, allowing 10 goals before the half. Finally, 10 minutes into the second period, Jon Manning smashed a kick from the 55 yard mark to find the back of the goal and put the Patriots on the board. Manning, who has played relentless offense all season, maneuvered through several defenders to finally break free and gain enough time to take one shot.
Despite getting on the board, the Patriots could not contain the Lions offense and gave way to three more goals before the end of the game.
"Jon Manning continues to push hard every game on offense. Today he was rewarded and as he continues to push, more rewards will come.
Aaron Bishop played a solid defensive game and its exciting to see him grow each game." Explained Head Coach Vernon Dorsey
The Patriots take a short break before returning to their home field on Thursday,September 22, to host Washington Adventist University. The game is set to start at 4 pm.
