Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Lady Patriots Sweep Falcons!

PHOENIXVILLE,PA- The Valley Forge Christian College women's volleyball team made a clean sweep of Davis College, Saturday, September 21. The Lady Patriots defeated the Falcons 3-0 with final set scores of 28-26, 25-11 and 25-15.

This was the second matchup of the season for the Falcons and Patriots. Earlier in year the Patriots were defeated by the Falcons in a four set match. This time, playing on their own court, the Lady Patriots looked to walk away with the win. The first set went point for point, with both teams staying within a two point range of each other. The Lady Patriots held a slight lead, 24-23, when the Falcons found a hole on the floor to tie it up, 24-24. VFCC managed to record the next point with a kill from Katie Clarke but Davis refused to back down, coming back to tie. Finally, with the score 27-26 in the Patriots favor, they were able to force a hitting error and take the first set 28-26.

With both teams feeling the exhaustion from set one, neither side could get on a run to take a strong lead. After a short timeout from the Patriots bench, the team came back in with aggression. The ladies played a clean net, only recording five hitting errors. Limited errors combined with strong team serving allowed the Patriots tto catch the Falcons out of system and capture set two, 25-11.

Going into the third set, the Falcons continually attacked at the net, tiring out the Patriots defense and putting points up on the board. The Patriots answered back, taking 27 attempts and finishing 14 swings with only 4 errors. With the Falcons battling for survival and the Patriots battling for the win, the score remained close into the mid-teens. With 11 points left to capture the match, Kimberly Cramer and Courtney Farabee came alive in the back, refusing to let anything hit the ground. Katie Clark recorded kill after kill until they were one point away from winning. Finally, in the last play of the game the Falcons outside hitter went up as hard as she could to record a kill to keep the set alive. She was immediately met with a solid block from Shelby Shepherd to put the match to rest, 25-15!

Katie Clarke marked her best game of the season, notching 17 kills, 9 digs, two solo blocks and two aces.

Courtney Farabee continues to anchor the defense with 15 digs, two assist and one ace.

Kayleigh Smith recorded eight kills and three aces and Aubrie McQuown had five kills and two aces.

Carli Kile grabbed 30 assists, two digs and one ace, while newcomer Kimberly Cramer had eight digs.
