PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The Valley Forge Christian College women's soccer team posted a tough loss on Saturday, September 21, 2013, falling to the Mt. Aloysius College Mounties (Cresson, PA), by a 10-0 final. With today's loss the Patriots drop to 1-6 on the season.
Things got off to a rocky start for Valley Forge today, as the Mounties opened up the scoring in the fifth minute and never let up. The Patriots found themselves in a 7-0 halftime deficit.
Freshman keeper
Taniyah Faison did her bet today to keep Mt. Aloysius from scoring, but VFCC had a tough time keeping the Mounties in check. Faison recorded sixteen saves on the day, several of them coming from quality scoring chances from Mt. Aloysius. "Her play, in just her second career start, is not truly represented by the final score. Missed marks and a slack defense accounted for the majority our opponents goals", said head coach Karla Polli after the game.
Sophomore midfielders
Rachel Stormes and
Loren Metallo each recorded shots on goal today in the loss.
The Patriots will look to get back in the win column on Monday, September 23 when they travel to Trinity Washington University for a 4:30 pm kick-off. Trinity currently sits at 0-6 on the season.
NOTE: At halftime of today's game, the women's soccer team honored the VFCC Admissions Department with a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication to our athletes.
