Men's Soccer Faces Setback Against Mount Aloysius

PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College men's soccer team faced another setback on at the field, falling to Mount Aloysius by a final score of 1-8.

The game would be aggressive on both sides, as each team was handed a pair of yellow cards by the end of the 90 minutes. The Mounties recorded their first goal 15 minutes in to the first period and would score five more before the break.

After halftime the Patriots stepped by their defense, controlling the ball for the majority of the second period. Thirty seconds into the half, Matt McKenzie was fouled inside the penalty box, awarding him a free penalty kick. McKenzie made good on the shot, slipping it right past the Mounties goalie to find the back left corner and finally putting the Patriots up on the board. The men had several more chances to record a goal but seemed unable to finish it off.

"Matt McKenzie and Ryon McGinness played well. Aaron Bishop had his best game of the season. We are still young defensively and each game is one more step toward improvement." stated HEad Men's Soccer Coach Vernon Dorsey.

Matt McKeznie recorded one goal and two shots on goal.

The Patriots have little time to rest as they head on the road tomorrow, Sunday, September 22 to compete against Penn State Abington. The Lions host the Patriots at 1:30 pm.

Go Patriots!!
