The women's volleyball team faced Bryn Athyn College for the second time this season and looked to rewrite the past, unfortunately, while the Lady Patriots got closer than last time, they were unable to take the match from the Lions, falling by a final score of 0-3.
Coming out strong in the first set, the Lady Patriots strayed just two or three points behind the Lions. At the very end, the Patriots made several hitting errors to fall behind and give the set to the visitors, 17-25.
In the second set, it appeared history was repeating itself as VFCC seemed unable to get their offense on a solid run and allowed the Bryn Athyn to get into the double digits before getting on the scoreboard themselves. Picking themselves up and refusing to go down early, the
Lady Patriots started to fight their way back, but with the gap in score so wide they were unable to catch up and fell, 13-25.
By the third set the Lady Patriots were exhausted but pushed for every point, staying two points behind the Lions throughout the set. At the very end the Patriots took more swings at the net but were unable to gain ground and saw the set and match fall away, 20-25.
"We faced a very tough opponent but we didn't crumble as a team. I'm proud of the way we fought hard to the very last point. That's what I am asking of the girls, to keep fighting for every point." Stated Head Coach Amanda Gauthier.
Katie Clarke recorded eight kills, seven digs, and two block assists.
Courtney Farabee completed the night with 22 digs.
The Lady Patriots stay home for their next match, hosting Penn College of Technology on Thursday, September 19 at 7 pm.
