For five games, the Valley Forge Christian College women's volleyball team was itching for their first season victory. Amid roster changes and injuries, the Patriots felt ready for win and a win is what they got against Trinity Washington University on September 10. The Lady Patriots swept the Tigers in three sets, 25-4, 25-13 and 25-16!
The ladies set the tone for the match in the first set, serving hard and smart and jumping out to a 10-0 lead. After getting the serve back, the Patriots clinched the set, protecting the net, spreading their hitters and recording just one error.
Sets two and three revealed a scrappier side to the host team, as Trinity continued to dump the ball over. Regardless, the Patriots held on to their lead, continually covering and attacking from the line. The team ended the night with the night with 18 aces, 22 kills and just six errors.
"This win is was what we have been waiting for. We preserved as a team, pushing ourselves harder and hard with each point and we accomplished out goal as a team!" team captain Courtney Farabee stated after the match.
Carli Kile played a solid game, recording a personal record of 7 aces. Kile also had 15 assists and seven digs.
Madison Arrowsmith walked away with seven kills out of 13 attempts and zero errors.
Aubrie McQuown had six kills and three aces.
Kayleigh Smith ended the night with five digs, three kills and two aces.
Katie Clarke earned four kills, while Courtney Farabee ended the night with six digs.
The Lady Patriots return to the road to take on Penn State Abington, Thursday, September 12. The Lions host the Patriots at 7 pm.
