PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The Valley Forge Christian College women's soccer team suffered another setback on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Wesley College Wolverines by an 11-0 final score. With this loss the Lady Patriots drop to 0-4 on the season.
The Wesley Wolverines jumped all over Valley Forge with their offensive outbreak minutes into the first half and were relentless throughout, knocking shot after shot on target. VFCC net minder, junior Amanda McGinness did her best to stop the Wesley attack, and recorded eleven saves on the day. The lone VFCC shot on goal came from the foot of Rachel Stormes, a penalty kick that missed its mark by inches over the cross bar.
Head coach Karla Polli said after the game; "This was a tough loss for us as a team. The past several games we had become much improved. I am learning daily who we have that can fill spots left vacant from last season's graduates. It was very tough for us to compete with a team that was as fast and aggressive as Wesley, they are a very good team and are very well coached. Kelli Noecker played a great game and was complemented by both the coaches and referees afterwards."
The Lady Patriots will look to recover quickly as they prepare for their first NCCAA II East Region opponent, when they travel to Baptist Bible College, on Saturday, September 14 for a 1 pm start. The Defenders are also winless on the season at 0-2, but will be well rested having not played a game for the past week prior to kick-off.
