BALTIMORE, MD – The Valley Forge Christian College Lady Patriots women's soccer team opened up their 2013 campaign with a tough 5-0 loss to Notre Dame of Maryland University. After finding themselves in a 2-0 hole at the halftime break, things did not get any better for the Lady Patriots as they dropped their season opener to the Gators.
"Today was our first game and allowed us to see our strengths and weakness played out on the field," stated women's soccer captain Elizabeth Swan. "Everyone worked really hard and while the score didn't show it, there was a lot of improvement throughout the game."
The lone highlight on the day was the performance of VFCC junior net-minder Amanda McGinness, as she turned away 20 shots on goal from the Gators.
Junior midfielder Kelli Noecker recorded the lone VFCC shot on the day.
Valley Forge will look to bounce back quickly as they next travel to Penn State Harrisburg on Thursday, September 5th.
