CHELTENHAM, PA. - The Valley Forge Christian College Patriots' slump continued as they were defeated by the Arcadia University Knights (13-6-1), 8-19.
The Patriots held a small 2-1 lead going into the second inning. The Patriots hit a hot streak, earning four runs with a double from
Sam Sheesley and
Matt McKenzie, and a triple from
Josh Strohm. The Patriots kept the Knights from scoring and ended the inning up, 6-2.
The tables took an unfortunate turn, as the Knights scored eight runs over the next three innings and the Patriots were able to record just one run. At the end of the sixth inning, the Patriots were trailing 7-14. The Knights continued to do damage the Patriots defense, scoring five more runs in the seventh and securing their victory as the Patriots managed to score just one run in the eighth.
Sam Sheesley went 3-for-6, scoring three runs and hitting two doubles.
Josh Strohm pitched five and half innings, striking out seven batters and allowing just three earned runs. Strohm went 3-for-4 at the plate, with one RBI and one triple.
Matt McKenzie went 1-for-5 at the plate with one double and two RBI's.
The Patriots return home for their next game, March 29, against Cazenovia College. The game is set to start at 1pm at CAT Pickering!
