LANCASTER, PA- The men's baseball team suffered a double-header loss to NCCAA East Region rival, Lancaster Bible College, March 22. Despite leading the majority of the first game, the team fell, 5-7, in game one and 2-16 in game two.
The Patriots had a solid first inning at the plate, earning three runs from
Sam Sheesley, Cody Nodis and
Matt McKenzie. Lancaster was able to answer right back, grabbing three runs of their own in the bottom of the first.
After scoring another run in the second and keeping the Chargers stranded on base, the Patriots were up, 4-3. A solo homerun from
Jared Boothman in the third extended the Patriots lead, which they held until the bottom of the fifth. A double from Lancaster brought in two runners to take the lead, 5-7. With the Patriots unable to answer in the next two innings, they watched their first season win slip away.
Sophomore Joshua Strohm pitched seven solid innings, striking-out four batters and giving up just two earned runs. Nodis went 2-for-4, earning one run and one RBI.
The Patriots were on the scoreboard first in game two, but the Chargers quickly took control of the game, earning 12 runs by the bottom of the fourth inning. The Patriots were able to score once more in the sixth inning before the game came to a close.
Sam Sheesley went 2-for-3 at the plate, earning one run.
The Patriots travel to Glenside, Pa to compete against Arcadia University for their next game, March 25. The Patriots take on the Knights at 3pm.
