IMMACULATA, PA- The Valley Forge men's baseball team traveled to Immaculata University, March 21, to compete against the Mighty Macs for just their third game of the season. The Patriots strained to get the bats going on offense and could not keep up with the home team's offensive power, eventually falling, 5-22.
Valley Forge was able to retire six Immaculata batters and hold them to just one run until the bottom of the third. After walking two batters, the Mighty Macs hit back-to-back fly balls to bring their runners home. The Patriots finally brought the inning to close with a play from pitcher,
Jared Boothman.
The Patriots trailed the Mighty Macs, 1-5, going into the fifth inning. A double from
Sam Sheesley put two Patriot players in scoring position and were brought home with a single hit down the left field-line from Cody Nodis. The score was now cut in half, the Patriots trailing just 3-5.
Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Patriots would get to the Mighty Macs. The host school earned big runs in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five, and bottom of the seventh, scoring 10 runs. The Patriots were able to score two more runs at the top of the eighth from
David Smith and
Sam Sheesley.
The Patriots had just seven hits and three errors.
Jared Boothman went 3-for-5 at the plate, earning one run.
Sam Sheesley went 1-for-5 and earned two runs. Cody Nodis brought in two RBI's for the team.
The Patriots hit the road again for their next game, traveling to Lancaster to compete against the Lancaster Bible College Chargers. The game is set to start at 3pm!
