Patriots Drop Road Game Against Great Lakes

LANSING, MI- The Valley Forge Christian College men's basketball team dropped a road game against Great Lakes Christian College, Saturday, February 2.  The Patriots were defeated by Great Lakes with a final score of 75-78.

The Patriots trailed Great Lakes 37-42 at halftime despite holding the lead for the majority of the period.  With 12:46 on the clock, the Patriots were up by six, but failed to put together a string of points to stay ahead.  Great Lakes inched their way into the lead, forcing fouls and turnovers against the Patriots.  At the end of the half, Great Lakes shot 51% from the paint and 66% from the three-point line, while holding the Patriots to just 42% in the paint.

Despite Great Lakes extending their lead further in the beginning of the second half, the Patriots were able to pick up their offense to grab the lead at the 10-minute mark.  Cheered on by their fans, Great Lakes reclaim a small yet steady lead and held it till the two-minute mark.  A free-throw by Domenick Bond followed by a lay-up from Kevin Mack gave the Patriots a two-point advantage.  However, an ill-timed three-point foul by the Patriots brought Great Lakes to the free-throw, in which they made good on for all three shots.  Despite several chances, the Patriots were unable to convert any further and finally fell to Great Lakes by three points.

The Patriots ended the game shooting just 43% from the floor compared to Great Lakes' 48%.  The Patriots were held scoreless beyond the arc while Great Lakes went 4-for-6.

Kevin Mack led the Patriots in scoring with 23 points, along with six rebounds and three steals.

Lance Harris notched 13 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Dominic Cain scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Domenick Bond had 12 points, five rebounds and one assists.

The Patriots hit the road again for their next game, traveling to Lancaster Bible College, Thursday, February 7.  The Patriots take on the Chargers at 8pm!
