LANGHORNE, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College women's basketball team traveled to Cairn University to compete against the Cairn Highlanders. The Patriots defeated the Highlanders, 59-53, and along with securing the second seed for next week's NCCAA East Region semifinals!
The Patriots played a strong 40 minutes, securing the lead early in the first half and held a 13-point advantage going into the break, 34-21.
For the majority of the second period the Patriots were able to hold their double-digit lead until the 8:07 mark, when the Highlanders found their second wind and went on a 15-2. The Patriots clung to a 2-point advantage with three minutes remaining. In the final minutes, the Patriots were able to force several turnovers and bring their lead back up to six to seize the victory!
Senior
Amanda Compton led the Patriots in scoring with 17 points, along with 10 rebounds, two blocks and one steal.
Amanda Reich recorded 12 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two assists.
Morgan Godwin notched 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Vanity Jones grabbed 11 rebounds and scored nine points, seven assists and three steals.
The Patriots return home for their final regular season game and senior day, Saturday February 16, 2013. The Patriots host The Kings College at 1pm!
