LANGHORNE, PA - The Valley Forge Christian College men's basketball team concluded the regular season and put a stop to a 2-game losing streak on Monday night (February 11, 2013), as they defeated Cairn University, 82-64, on the road.
The Patriots jumped out to a hefty 21-point lead by half-time, and eventually secured their 14
th win of the season.
The Patriots' pressure defense proved to be problematic for Cairn, as the Highlanders would accrue 26 turnovers throughout the contest. The Patriots would score 24 points off turnovers.
Four Valley Forge players reached double-digits in scoring, with freshman
Domenick Bond leading the way. The 6-3 forward was a force in the paint as he scored career-high 21-points on 9-of-11 shooting. Bond also nabbed five rebounds, two blocked shots, and a steal.
Kevin Mack surpassed his season scoring average by pouring in 17 points. Mack also notched game-highs in rebounds (7), assists (4), and steals (4).
Jonathan Dukes and
Jean LeBlanc both contributed 10 points.
With the victory, the Patriots secured a 14-11 regular season record.
Next Tuesday, February 19, 2013, the Patriots will host Cairn University in a NCCAA East Region playoff match-up.
