WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Valley Forge Christian College women's basketball team competed in the first round of the Gallaudet University Holiday Tournament, Friday, December 6. The Patriots played against the Trinity Washington University Tigers and were defeated, 38-68.
The teams were neck and neck for the first five minutes, tying at six points apiece. However, that would be as close as the Patriots would get to the Tigers as the team was able to only shoot only 25% from the floor compared to the Tigers 43%. The Patriots were also out-rebounded 55-28. Unable to score and put up a strong defense against the Tigers scoring, the Tigers were able to continually extend their lead and close the book on the Patriots.
"We just came out flat and were unable to recover," stated Head Coach
Gretchen LeVan. "We could have competed but nothing came together for us to find a flow. We have a chance tomorrow to correct our errors and hopefully come out with the win."
The women play in the consolation round of the tournament at 11 am. They will play against host school, Gallaudet University.
Go Patriots!
