CRESSON, PA- Freshman forward Ariene Ohimor set the stage for an exciting season, displaying her skills in the women's basketball's first game of the season against Mount Aloysius College, Saturday, November 16.
The Mounties hosted the Patriots for both teams first official game of the season. It was also the first game ever to be played in the Mounties new gymnasium. With all momentum going toward the home team, the Patriots knew it would be a challenge. Throughout the game the ladies struggled to find their rhythm, finally falling 23-101 as time ran out on the clock.
Despite the bumpy game, Ariene Ohimor stood out among the rest. Ohimar was a solid presence on the court, grabbing 15 rebounds, nine points and one block. "She came to play from start to finish. I'm excited to see where she is starting now and how she will develop over the season", stated Head Coach Gretchen LeVan.
Returning forward Amanda McGinness turned up as a solid player as well, grabbing six rebounds, five points and one steal before hitting early foul trouble, taking herself out of the game.
The Patriots remain at home for their next three games, hosting the Holiday Inn Express Tip-Off Classic, November 21-23. The women play Lincoln Christian University at 6 pm in the first round of the tip-off!
Go Patriots!
