PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College women's soccer team faced an intense Lincoln University team, Tuesday, October 8. The Lions fast-paced defense continually kept the Patriots at bay, keeping them off the board and falling by a final score of 0-10.
The Patriots grappled with a solid Lions' offense, spending the majority of the 90 minutes in their own territory. The Lions' were able to break through the defensive line to record 7 goals in the first half and hold the Patriots to zero shots.
Into the second half, the ladies were able to stop most of the bleeding, closing the gaps in defensive and moving the ball across the line to Lion's end of the field. The Patriot's were finally able to get a few shots off but without a clear path, the end results were not in the home team's favor. The Lion's would find the back of the Patriot's net three more times before time would run off the board, ending the game 0-10.
"We were disappointed in our play." Head Coach Karla Polli commented after the game. "We just couldn't get it together. They beat us to 50/50 balls all day and outplayed us."
The Patriots can't dwell long on the loss as they travel to Wilson College, tomorrow, October 9. The game is set to begin at 4 pm.
Go Patriots!
