Patriots’ Offense Solidifies Win Over Ravens!

ROSEMONT, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College women's volleyball earned a victory on the road against Rosemont College, Monday, October 21.  The Patriots swept the Ravens in an exciting three set match!

The Patriots started the first set trailing the Ravens.  A string of errors left the Patriots behind 0-4 before forcing a hitting error and gaining the point and the ball.  Finally getting their heads in the game, the ladies the Patriots held a strong defensive line and record 13 kills with just three errors.  Approaching set-point, the Patriots allowed the Ravens to tie on the 21st point.  After a brief timeout, the Patriots were able to play the holes in the Raven's defense and take set one, 25-22.

In the second and third set, the Patriots started the sets from behind.  Able to overcome the point deficit, the ladies rallied at the net and utilized all their hitters to power over the Ravens and capture the match in three with final set scores of 25-20, and 25-19.  The Patriots recorded 36 kills compared to the Raven's 18.

Katie Clarke had one of her most impressive game with 16 kills and just four errors.  Clarke recorded nine digs, two service aces and a block assist!

Kayleigh Smith notched nine kills with just one error.  Courtney Farabee had 16 digs, while Carli Kile notched 30 assists and two service aces.

"The girls played as one solid team.  We went into the game focused on just playing our spots and dominating our positions.  We went into the game as a team and won it as a team" reported Coach Amanda Gauthier.

The volleyball team plays their last regular season game on the road at Mount Aloysius, Wednesday, October 23.  The Patriots are set to play the Mounties at 7 pm.
