CRESSON, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College women's volleyball team competed in their last regular season game against the Mount Aloysius College Mounties, Thursday, October 24. While the teams started off equally matched, the Mounties were able to edge the Lady Patriots in three sets, 0-3.
The first set remained close till the very end. The Mounties were able to apply their offense to optimize three hitters at the net at all times, allowing staying ahead of the Patriots. The ladies made a few ill-timed serving errors granting the host team set one, 19-25.
Sets two and three did not favor the ladies as much as set one. Each time the Patriots became stuck around fifth point, getting caught on service receive and keeping their front row out of play. Eventually the Patriots would get on a small run but not enough to overcome the point deficit. The Patriots put up the hardest fight of the season but fell in sets two and three by the exact same score, 15-25.
The Lady Patriots were held to just one service ace, their lowest of the season. Katie Clarke dominated at the front line with 14 kills, and three blocks. Courtney Farabee recorded 21 digs.
The ladies take a few days off before heading into the NCCAA East Region Tournament. The fourth seeded Patriots are matched-up against the number one seed, Cairn University. The game is scheduled to start at 2 pm.
Go Patriots!
