Women's Soccer Shuts Out Trinity Washington University!

PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College women's soccer team captured a win on their home field, shutting out the Trinity Washington University Tigers, 3-0!

This was a rematch for the Lady Patriots. Earlier this season, the ladies squandered a one point lead against the Tigers in the second half of the match. The Patriots had to settled for a tie in double overtime. This time, on their home field, the ladies wouldn't settle for anything less than a shut out. And thats exactly what happened.

Three minutes into the first period, Rachel Stormes beat out several Tiger defenders to knock the ball from the right side of the field to the back left corner of the net, putting the Patriots on the board and pushing their motivation even further.

Both team played solid defense for the remainder of the half, allowing less than seven shots for the Patriots and five for the Tigers. The Patriots would hold their one-point lead going into the break.

After the half, the ladies came on even stronger against the Tigers. Penetrating the defense, junior Kelli Noecker sailed a shot right past the goalie to make the score 2-0! The ladies continued to dominate the second half, keeping the ball in Tiger terrioty nearly the entire time. Not to be left out, senior defender Elizabeth Swan solidified the Patriots's lead, recording a goal for herself mid-way through the period.

As time ran out, the Patriots refused to give up, fighting for every ball until finally the game came to a close with VFCC ontop, 3-0!

"Everyone came in wanting the win and ready to work hard for it. We played a great passing game with good intensity and it showed in the final score!" stated senior captain Elizabeth Swan.

The team takes the week to rest before hosting Lincoln University on Monday, October 7. The Patriots take on the Lions at 3:30 pm!
