PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The women's volleyball split their tri-match against Baptist Bible College and Trinity Washington University, Tuesday, October 1. The Patriots fell to the BBC Defenders,0-3, but bounced back to sweep the TWU Lions, 3-0! Another exciting event occurred before the second match when
Courtney Farabee was honored for recording the 1,000th dig of her career!
The Lady Patriots first competed against East Region rival, Baptist Bible College. The winner of this match would receive the third seed in East Region Play-offs.
The teams were evenly matched, taking an hour and half to complete three sets. In the first set, the Patriots were unable to get their offense going, allowing the Defenders to jump out to a five point lead. Then the momentum switched and the Defenders failed to get their offense on a run, allowing the Patriots to catch up. The entire set went this way, with the Defenders taking the lead but the Patriots finding a way to stay in the game. Finally, with the score 17-18 in favor of the Defenders, the Patriots' failed to get a good set off of the intense serves from the visitors and allowed them to take set one, 18-25.
Sets two and three played out the same as set one. The Patriots continually playing catch-up to the Defenders, allowing them to just get out of reach and take the match. With the loss, the Patriots receive a fourth seed in the East Region playoffs.
Katie Clarke recorded nine kills and just one error along with nine digs and one solo block.
Courtney Farabee notched 21 digs against the Defenders.
Before the second match, the Athletic Department and volleyball team honored senior libero,
Courtney Farabee for her achievement of surpassing 1,000 digs. Farabee is the second volleyball player in program history to achieve this milestone.
To make the night even more special for Farabee, the Lady Patriots secured a solid win against the Trinity Washington University Tigers. The Patriots dominated at the net recording 27 kills against the Tiger's 9. The Patriots also held the advantage behind the service line, scoring 12 points off of service aces.
The team receives a much needed week off before their next match on Tuesday, October 8. The Lady Patriots host the Washington Adventist University at 7:30 pm.
