ROSEMONT, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College women's basketball team traveled to Rosemont, Pa. to compete against the Rosemont College Ravens. To their dismay, with several ill-timed turnovers and being out-rebounded, the Patriots dropped the game and lost to the Ravens, 56-76.
While the Patriots took the small and early lead, 10-7 with 13:58 in half, it would be the Ravens who would take control. The Patriots committed a string of five turnovers and missed shots to let the Ravens go on a 14-2 run with 7:25 left before being stopped with a layup from
Amanda Compton. For the remainder of the period, the ladies tried to fight their way back into the running, but would continue to trail by at least eight points till the end.
The second period continued to prove that this would be an off-night for the Patriots. The Ravens slowly extended their lead, extinguishing any hope that the Patriots could make a comeback. Half-way through the period, the Patriots were trailing by 26 points. Several times the ladies were able to get on a small run, but the Ravens would answer right back.
While their scoring percentages were similar, the Ravens took twice as many shots as the Patriots, both from in the paint and beyond the arc. The Patriots were out-rebounded 40-51, along with committing twice as many turnovers (24-10).
Amanda Compton had a big night in the loss, recording another double-double. Compton scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.
Amanda Reich put up 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
