MEDIA, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College men's basketball team traveled to Media, Pa., January 23, 2013, to compete against the Penn State Brandywine Lions. The Patriots came out on top, defeating the Lions with a final score of 76-67!
The Patriots started off the game trailing the Lions until the 12-minute mark. A three-pointer from beyond the arc by
Isaiah Carson put the Patriots up, 13-11. The Lions immediately answered back going on an 8-0 run. Over the next several minutes the Patriots attempted to regain the lead, but would only get within two points. Finally, with three minutes left to play before the end of the half, the Patriots hit a hot streak, playing tough defense and forcing several turnovers, the men were able to go on a 9-0 run, and take the lead into the break, 36-27.
Through-out the second period, the Patriots were able to maintain their lead. The Lions didn't make it easy however, coming back to trail by just one point with five minutes remaining. The Patriots played smart, limiting their turnovers and slowing increasing their lead back up by nine and securing the victory!
While Penn State Brandywine held the rebound advantage, 40-34, the Patriots were able to force 21 turnovers while committing just 11. The biggest help for the Patriots came from the charity stripe, where they shot 73% for the night!
Donnell Davis scored 17 points, along nine assists, four rebounds and two steals.
Kevin Mack recorded another double-double, tallying 16 points and 10 rebounds. Mack also added four assists and two steals to the game.
Lance Harris put up 15 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
The Patriots return to the Pit for their next game, Friday, January 25, 2013. The Patriots play host to Berkeley College at 7pm!
