Men's Basketball Tops PSU - Schuylkill

Box Score

PHOENIXVILLE, PA
- The VFCC men's basketball team won again on Saturday (Feb. 11), defeating the Nittany Lions of Penn State - Schuylkill by a final score of 97-59, bringing their season record to 20-7.  This marks the fifth consecutive season the Patriots have finished with twenty or more wins.

The Patriots opened the game on a 7-0 run, executed almost singularly by sophomore Lance Harris.  Harris missed his first layup just :15 in, but after a defensive rebound he slammed home the first bucket of the game on a breakaway, bringing the Valley Forge faithful out of their seats.  Harris then added another bucket after a Mike Stum defensive rebound, and finally sank his bonus free throw after dropping yet another breakaway bucket.  Valley Forge continued to roll, increasing their lead steadily, yet precisely.  By the halftime buzzer, Valley Forge was in complete control, owning a 32 point lead (54-22).  The Patriots added to their lead in the second half, leading by as many as 44 points twice in the half, and coasted to the victory.

Leading the Patriots to victory today was sophomore Lance Harris, who finished with a season, and career high, 25 points scored in a game high 29 minutes played.  Harris was an impressive 10-for-13 from the field and also hit 5-of-8 from the free throw line.  Harris also finished with 8 rebounds and 2 steals.

Junior Donnell Davis added 18 points, 6 rebounds, and a game high 4 steals to the books.  Davis was 6-for-7 from the free throw line as well.

Senior Justin Kinsey scored 14 points off of a 5-for-6 shooting performance, and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.

Senior Latrell Alford finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions were able to empty their bench, with each player contributing to the stat sheet.  They were paced by John Morrow and David Hardy who finished with 14 points and 10 points, respectively.

Up next for the Patriots will be another team of Nittany Lions as they play host to PSU-Lehigh Valley on Monday (Feb. 13).  Tip-off is scheduled for an 8:00 PM start, following the Lady Patriots game at 6:00 PM.
