LANGHORNE, PA - The Valley Forge men's basketball team defeated Philadelphia Biblical University, 86-63.
The Patriots weren't exactly excited about their performance on Wednesday night. Even though they won the game by a comfortable margin, their defense seemed shoddy at times. To their credit, the Patriots' full-court pressure rattled the Crimson Eagles very early in the contest. It was the part of the game plan that was executed by the Patriots. Ultimately, it was their pressure that won them the basketball game.
Philadelphia Biblical University committed 34 turnovers, which gave them no chance to win the game. However, when they managed to get a look at the basket, it usually went in. The Crimson Eagles shot 55.3% from the field (21-for-38). After missing all of their three-point tries in the first half (0-3), the Crimson Eagles would shoot 4-of-5 in the second.
The Patriots were paced by
Michael Stum (Manheim, PA, Manheim Central High School), who finished with 25 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Andrew Godwin (Fairfax, VA, Fairfax High School) tacked on 16 points and two steals.
James Franklin (Philadelphia, PA, Father Judge High School) earned six assists.
Steve Sims (Womelsdorf, PA, Abington High School) finished with four steals.
Shawn Taylor led the Patriots with five rebounds.
Josh Howard (Philadelphia, PA, Baptist Bible College) tallied three assists.
With the victory, the Patriots remain undefeated in East Region play.
