SCHUYLKILL, PA – Junior
Justin Kinsey has been gradually piecing together an impressive season, and what makes it so, isn't necessarily his ability to score, but the balance of his offensive attack.
Last year, Kinsey, who as a key piece to the Patriots' offensive schemes, had the ball in his hands a lot. However, he concluded the season fifth on the team in total assists. This year, he is second in that category and not too far behind starting point guard
James Franklin.
Against Penn State Schuylkill,
Justin Kinsey (Philadelphia, PA, International Christian High School) had another near triple-double, as he led the Patriots in points (28), rebounds (17), and assists (8).
Michael Stum (Manheim, PA, Manheim Central High School) also had a huge game, as he also posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Overall, the Patriots played a decent first-half as they led, 51-36. However, there were some notable gaps in their defense that they talked about cleaning up for the second half. They got beat up the floor in transition a couple of times and gave up some easy lay-ups in their half-court defense.
In the second half, the Patriots weren't able to hold Penn State Schuylkill under the 65 points that they are accustomed to holding teams under. Even though the Patriots won 94-70, they gave up more points than they should have.
Once again, the Patriots had a strong showing from the free-throw line (10-for-12). In their last two games, the Patriots are shooting 86 percent (33-for-38) from the charity stripe.
James Franklin (Philadelphia, PA, Father Judge High School) also had a strong performance against Schuylkill as he finished with seven assists and three steals.
The Patriots next game is against The College of New Jersey. The Patriots will travel to Ewing, New Jersey, and tip-off will be at 1:00 p.m.
