CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The Valley Forge Christian College men's basketball team fell 76-57 on the road to Ohio Christian University in their second game of the season, as the host Trailblazers took control of the contest, leading 38-22 by halftime.
The Patriots seemed out of sync on both ends of the floor, but had notable struggles on the offensive end. Valley Forge shot just 31.6% from the floor for a total of 57 points, one of their lowest outputs over the past few years.
A lot of credit is due to Ohio Christian University for their solid guard play, and great first half performance.
The Patriots, a team known for scoring in transition, wasn't able to convert off stops. In fact, the Trailblazers converted 10 more points off turnovers than the Patriots (14-4) in that woeful first half.
Play improved in the second-half, but they were never able to get themselves out of the hole they dug in the first half.
Senior
Shawn Taylor (Philadelphia, PA, USC Aiken) led the Patriots in points (12) and rebounds (5). Taylor also tallied four steals.
Junior
Latrell Alford (Crisfield, MD, Community College of Baltimore County - Cantonsville) tallied nine points.
Junior
Justin Kinsey (Philadelphia, PA, Manor College) earned team-highs in assists (4) and steals (6).
Sophomore
Steve Sims (Womelsdorf, PA, Abington High School), who played tough defense throughout the Ohio Christian tip-off tournament, managed three steals in 15 minutes.
The Valley Forge men must regroup quickly, as they now prepare to take on the reigning NCCAA II National Champions, Grace Bible, along with two other quality programs during Kentucky Christian University's Super 8 Classic (Nov. 11-13).
