PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The Valley Forge Christian College men's basketball team evened things up with Kentucky Christian University, after falling to the Knights the week before (Nov. 12), during the Super 8 Classic.
The Patriots are starting to pick up some steam, as they've been able to string together three straight wins and now have a winning record (4-3).
The men's basketball team battled it out with Kentucky Christian on Friday (Nov. 19), and came out on top, 69-63, on the second night of the Hersha Hospitality Classic.
Ultimately, it would come down to the final minute of play. KCU's Casey Jones, who was hot from the perimeter all night, would drill a three-pointer with a minute remaining to make it a 1-point game (64-63).
On the Patriots' next possession,
Shawn Taylor would make a trip to the free-throw line, where he split a pair to give Valley Forge a 2-point advantage (65-63). However, it was a key steal and lay-up with less than 20 seconds remaining by
Latrell Alford that really helped the Patriots chances. Alford's lay-up gave the Patriots a 4-point cushion (67-63). On the next defensive segment, the Patriots would rebound a missed three-pointer by Casey Jones, and KCU was forced to foul.
Shawn Taylor calmly sank two free-throws to secure the victory.
