Kyle Mariano is entering his seventh season as the Head Men’s Volleyball Coach at the University of Valley Forge, where he has built the program from the ground up. He launched the team as a club sport in 2019 and led its transition to varsity competition in 2020. Under his leadership, the program has produced 10 All-Conference selections and two Conference Rookies of the Year. In recognition of his efforts, he was named the 2022 CSAC Coach of the Year. The team has become a playoff contender under his guidance.
Before coaching the men’s team, Mariano served as the Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach. He is a 2013 graduate of Pfeiffer University, where he earned a degree in Sport Management and competed for four years on the NCAA Division I/II men’s volleyball team as a 5-foot-9 outside hitter—an uncommon achievement at that level of competition. As a key contributor to back-to-back Conference Carolinas championship squads, he faced top-tier Division I and II programs from across the country and delivered several standout performances. Against Division I NJIT, he notched 13 kills while hitting .480, and in a match against Division I Purdue Fort Wayne, he recorded 4 service aces (doubling the opponent’s total), 9 kills, and a .350 hitting percentage. In the Conference Carolinas championship match against Limestone University, Mariano posted 9 kills and 3 solo blocks, received 51 serves without a single error, and delivered 17 jump serve attempts—also with zero errors. During his time at Pfeiffer, he was also honored with the Beautiful Feet Award for his commitment to authentic Christian outreach and evangelism.
Mariano’s volleyball journey began at South Brunswick High School in New Jersey, where he earned All-Conference and All-State honors, captained his team to a peak state ranking of sixth, and was named SBHS Senior Athlete of the Year (2009). His standout high school career earned him a scholarship to play at the collegiate level.
Beyond the court, Mariano has served in a variety of roles in local church ministry—ranging from front door greeter to college and youth ministry, small group leader, preacher, and member of the prayer team. He has also coached with Athletes in Action in Central Asia and worked with various club volleyball programs, while continuing to compete in grass, beach, and pro tournaments locally. Mariano is passionate about serving the students and using his gifts and abilities for the glory of God and sharing the love of Christ with others through volleyball.
He currently resides in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania with his wife and two children.
