Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Aces the Competition

Men's Volleyball went on the road to take on York College (NY) this past Friday February 9th. Coming off a 0-3 loss to Neumann University our boys were looking to bounce back in a big way. They did, putting in the work to get the 3-0 set sweep. Bringing them to 4-2 on the season.
In the first two sets Valley Forge completely dominated. Taking the first 25-14 and the second 25-12. The first set saw a 6-1 advantage right off the rip, behind an Ace by Toby Harris and multiple kills by Nathan Whisman. Another ace put up by Clay Confer and a couple more kills by Toby Harris helped to close out the set and take a 1-0 advantage. Set two saw Valley Forge go out to a 12-3 advantage thanks to a few more kills by Clay Confer who was assisted by Paul Brown. Valley Forge was able to wrap up that one too, taking the 2-0 set lead. This game, like many of the others UVF has played in, saw a more competitive set 3 than both sets 1 and 2. Kills by both Chris Brown and Toby Harris started the early scoring for the Patriots, but the Cardinals of York college matched them point for point. That was until a few errors put UVF out in front for the 5-2 lead. Kills by Tyler Younger and Will Schmidheinl gave Valley Forge a 7-5 lead before York went on a run of their own. Each team kept trading blows until the end, with the Cardinals of York ahead 19-20 late, Valley Forge was able to storm back thanks in large part to a couple of clutch Aces by Nathan Whisman and Toby Harris. York tried to make a comeback down 24-21 by putting up a couple points of their own, but a bad set put the game away. Giving Valley Forge yet another set sweep on their young season!

Clay Confer led in kills (6), Toby Harris led in Aces (3), Paul Brown led in Blocks (2) and assists (13), and Jordan Kieffer led in digs (8).

Their next game is at Home on Monday February 12th vs Cairn University. Game time is 8 PM.
