Precision and Power: UVF Balances Offense and Defense in Convincing Win

Men's Baseball faced off against Penn State Scranton in a doubleheader at Home on Saturday February 24th. They were able to take both games! The first finished close with a 5-3 score and the second finished in a 12-0 shutout!

Game 1 saw Jacob Dahlman get the start on the mound and he was able to strike out 3 of the first 6 batters faced. With a 0-0 score going into the second inning, Jeremy Reimel singled to second to hit in the first run of the game. Later in the inning, with runners on second and third, Brayden Tunnell singled to score both to bring the score to 3-0. Penn State was able to get a run of their own in the top of the third inning on a bases loaded walk before a groundout to 3rd baseman Zack Haines ended the inning. A passed ball and a single to bring in a run by Carlos Terc brought the lead to four in a 5-1 game after 5 innings. Freshman Jacob Dahlman pitched six strong innings before being relieved by Eric Reinhart in the top of the 7th inning. After getting a quick first out, multiple errors bought Scranton their 2nd and 3rd runs of the game. Eric Reinhart was able to strand runners on second and third by striking out Scranton's last batter. Game 1 finished with some dramatics, but the Patriots came out with their first win of the season!

Brayden Tunnell led in RBIs (2), Jacob Dahlman finished with only 4 hits and 1 earned run through six innings.

The Patriots will play at Home in their next contest, going up against Penn State Hazleton Tuesday February 27th in a doubleheader!
