Men's Baseball faced off against Penn State Scranton in a doubleheader at Home on Saturday February 24th. They were able to take both games! The first finished close with a 5-3 score and the second finished in a 12-0 shutout!
Game 2 brought some experience in sophomore Brandon Dalmado, who got his first start of the year on the bump. It was all Patriots from the get go, as the first two of three Penn State hitters struck out. Carlos Terc was able to get on base on a walk in the bottom of the 1st inning and proceeded to steal both second and third base before being hit in by Colin Orndorff. After getting two more strikeouts in the top of the 2nd, the Patriots went on to score again in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-0 lead on an Aaron Gonzales steal of home after a passed ball. Another run came in in the bottom of the 3rd after a Brayden Tunnell triple scored Aaron Gonzales. Josh Nieberlein hit a single in the bottom of the 4th, bringing in another run to make it a 4-0 game. After two more strikeouts by Brandon Dalmado in the top of the 5th inning, Valley Forge doubled their score after multiple walks led to runs. Both Alex Shim and Carlos Terc had hits leading to RBIs, making the score 8-0 after 5 innings. A Brayden Tunnell double and Liam Prepetit single brought in the last of Valley Forge's runs to make it a cool dozen. Brandon Dalmado came back out to close out the 7th inning, grabbing two more strikeouts and finishing the game on a groundout to 3rd base.
Colin Orndorff led in hits (3) and stolen bases (4), Brayden Tunnell led in RBIs (3), and Brandon Dalmado finished with 12 strikeouts and 1 walk with only 3 hits in a 7 inning outing!
The Patriots will play at Home in their next contest, going up against Penn State Hazleton Tuesday February 27th in a doubleheader!
