The Patriots had their second meeting with Rosemont College on the road this past Saturday February 10th. They were able to take their second game of the season and two in as many games. Winning by 11 in a 60-49 Win!
Valley Forge jumped out to an early 11-4 lead behind a three pointer and a jumper just seconds later by Dominique Barnes. A huge three by Kaionna Hanna also helped the cause, giving our Patriots the 14-10 lead going into the second quarter. Rosemont made a quick comeback, taking the 20-21 lead with just under 3 minutes left in the second. A layup by Olivia Rochkind and a two by Lucy Mauerman gave Valley Forge the 24-23 lead before Rosemont went back in front on a layup, taking the 24-26 score going into the half. The second half started with a point for point game all the way up until 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. A layup and a fastbreak foul leading to a free throw by Mariah Matthews led to a 39-34 lead with under a minute left in the 3rd quarter. Valley Forge was able to hold that lead all the way up to the final whistle, with 2 threes by Dominique Barnes helping put the icing on the cake.
Dominique Barnes led in points (21) ,assists (4), and rebounds (17). Lucy Mauerman led in steals (2).
Next game is at Home against Keystone College on Monday February 12th. Game time is 6 PM.
