Box Score UVF Men's Volleyball opened up their season on the road against rival Saint Elizabeth University (1-3) this past Friday, January 26th. The Patriots swept all three sets to take the Win 3-0. On a 25-17, 25-15, 25-22 showing.
Straight out of the gate Valley Forge took a 5 point lead on a couple kills and an ace while keeping the shutout before Saint Elizabeth finally got on the board. From there our boys never lost the lead and were able to take the first set. Valley Forge had 11 kills in the set compared to a Saint Elizabeth 8. The second set started out fairly even up until the 10 point mark, where Valley Forge went on a run thanks to a Kill by Tyler Younger and an Ace by Chris Brown to bring the score to 12-7. Saint Elizabeth did their best to make a comeback to bring the score back to 18-15, but Valley Forge was having none of it. Going on a 7 point run to close out the set thanks in part to not one but TWO Aces by Clay Confer! Set 3 brought a much more back and forth battle with both teams going on point streaks of their own. Every time Saint Elizabeth would go on the attack, Valley Forge would match it with their own scoring streak. Eventually Kills by Nathan Whisman, Toby Harris, and Tyler Younger closed out the set and brought our boys their FIRST WIN of the season on a straight set sweep!
Toby Harris led UVF in Kills (8) and Aces (3). Clay Confer led in Digs (10) and Blocks (2). Isaiah Brown led in Assists (23).
Our Patriots goes on the road once again on Friday, February 2nd at Bryn Athyn (2-5). Game time is 8pm.
