Phoenixville, PA - The Patriots dropped the first set against the Mighty Macs, but took the second, fourth, and fifth set to secure the win. Many Patriots contributed mightily on the night. Three Patriots recorded double digit kills,
Nathan Whisman with 16,
Toby Harris with 11, and
Garrett Olsen with 10. Defensively,
Jordan Kieffer led the Patriots with 10 digs, while
Clay Confer added 9 and
Toby Harris had 8. Setter
Paul Brown notched 28 assists and 3 blocks.
Coach
Kyle Mariano praised the team's intensity and teamwork. "The whole team fought hard and they didn't give up. They showed a lot of heart, and a lot of fight. They gave the crowd a show and did not disappoint with the results either. Obviously volleyball is a team sport and we need each other to be successful on the court - so a big shout out to everyone who did their individual part."
This weekend, the Patriots will travel to Frederick, Maryland to square off against Neumann University and Hood College as part of a tri-match. "We can't wait for the tri-match, our excitement level is at a 10. We really think we can compete and win the two matches we play this weekend," adds Coach Mariano.
Following the tri-match, Valley Forge will continue play against Nuemann February 17th and 23rd, and will face Hood College again on February 24th.
