Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Softball team took the field for a conference double-header on Wednesday after against the Cyclones of Centenary University. The Patriots fell to the Cyclones in five-innings both games with scores of 3-14 and 3-12.
GAME ONE: 14-3 CENTENARY
Centenary struck in the first inning, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits and 1 Valley Forge error. The Patriots cut the Cyclones lead in half in the bottom half after scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. Centenary collected 3 more runs in the second inning to take a 7-2 lead. After a scoreless third inning, Centenary added 2 runs in the fourth. Junior Abby Foor tallied a strike on the scoreboard in the bottom after a Cyclone error. Trailing 9-3, the Patriots allowed the Cyclones to score 5 runs in the fifth to take the 14-3 win.
GAME TWO: 12-3 CENTENARY
In similar fashion, Centenary was first on the board, scoring a single run in the first inning. With the Patriots unable to respond in the bottom half, the Cyclones added 2 more runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Valley Forge committed three critical errors in the third inning, allowing the Cyclones to score 6 runs on just 2 hits. Valley Forge found a spark in the fourth inning, scoring 2 runs on 4 hits from

Destynie Blythers,
Jaeleen Mendoza, and
Morgan Bieler. Despite allowing Centenary to put up 3 additional runs in the fifth, Valley Forge collected 1 run on 3 hits in the bottom, ending the game with a 12-3 score in Centenary's favor.
