Langhorne, PA – The University of Valley Forge Men's Basketball traveled to Langhorne, PA to face conference-foe Cairn University on Friday evening. The Highlanders stunned the Patriots 122-70.
Sophomore
Owen Bradford led the Patriots with a 21-point, six rebound performance, followed by
Bennie Howard Jr. with 16 points, and
Derian Bradford with 13 points.
Down 7-4, the Patriots lost track, allowing the Highlanders to go on an 11-0 run, for an 18-4 score.
Bennie Howard Jr. showed up with a pair of free-throws, a three-ball and a layup to cut the lead to 12 points. Derain Bradford then drained a jumper in the paint to cut the Highlanders lead to single digits. Unfortunately, this would be the closest that Valley Forge could get as Cairn closed the first-half with a 24-point lead.
Cairn opened up the second-half in similar fashion as they consistently held a double-digit lead. The Highlanders extended their lead to a whopping 52 points, claiming the 122-70 win.
As a team, Valley Forge hit 50-87 from the field (57.5%), 11-25 from the three-point line (44%), and 11-16 from the stripe (68.8%).
The Highlanders out-rebounded the Patriots 55-26, and tallied 74 points in the paint.
Valley Forge will look to find a win as they travel back to Mason Activity Center to square-off with the Highlanders on Saturday, February 6
th at 2 p.m.
