Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bradford Tabbed ACAA All-Tournament Team

Delhi, N.Y. – The University of Valley Forge Men's Basketball team earned its second ACAA Tournament appearance with a 12-10 record. After a tough previous year, the Patriots flipped the script, bringing in 10 freshmen to re-vamp the program. Valley Forge fell to the Broncos of SUNY Delhi 118-70 in the semifinals to end their season.

Owen Bradford led the Patriots in scoring with 20 points, respectively earning a spot on the ACAA All-Tournament Team to end his rookie season. Matthew Altamirano followed suit with 18 points.

"We came out extremely flat, and they came out on fire, which isn't a good recipe for success" head coach DJ Damazo shared. "We did not do many things right which was disappointing, but we aren't going to let that define our season."

In front of a home crowd, the Broncos opened the contest with a 16-5 run before a Patriot timeout. Delhi shot a hot 64.10% from the field (25-39), and 66.67% from behind the arc (8-12), making it difficult for Valley Forge to rally. Delhi gathered a 32-point advantage at the half.

In similar fashion, the Broncos steadily increased their lead to a game-high 50 points, claiming a record-setting 118-70 win to advance to the ACAA Championship. As a unit, the Broncos shot a season-high 59.8% from the field (49-82), 54.2% from the three (13-24), and 46.7% from the line (7-15).

Delhi outrebounded Valley Forge 58-27, and led the momentum with 62 points in the paint.

As a team, Valley Forge shot 28-70 from the field (40%), 4-26 from three-point land (15.4%), and 10-19 from the charity stripe (52.6%).

"I am so proud of what we have accomplished this season," Damazo added. "With everyone returning, we have a bright future ahead of us!"
