Dallas, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Volleyball team traveled to Dallas, PA to participate in the Misericordia Tournament. On Friday, September 20
th, the Patriots faced SUNY Oswego, losing 3-0 (13-25, 19-25, 15-25) and York College, losing 3-0 (10-25, 5-25, 9-25). On Saturday, September 21
st, the Patriots began their second day against Elizabethtown College, falling 3-0 (9-25, 10-25, 17-25). Valley Forge wrapped up the tournament against SUNY Cortland, losing in straight sets (10-25, 6-25, 15-25). With four consecutive losses on the weekend, the Patriots move to 2-10 on the season.
Match One: Valley Forge 0, SUNY Oswego 3
The Patriots could not find any sort of momentum in their first match of the tournament, allowing the talented Oswego team a sweep. Oswego displayed a 25-15 kill advantage, 31-17 on digs, 17-4 on service aces, and 22-12 on assists. The Patriots accorded a -.057 attacking percentage, committing 18 errors.

Kaitlyn Hess led the way for the Patriots in kills (5), and service aces (3), while junior
Hannah Hawryluk led in assist (6), with freshman libero
Jasmine Vargas collecting a total of 10 digs for the match.
Match Two: Valley Forge 0, York College 3
The Spartans of York College dominated every set, posting a 52-9 point benefit on the Patriots. The Spartans led in most areas, tallying 33 kills, 18 aces, and 30 assists. Valley Forge led in only column of the match, pulling together 22 digs. The Patriots hit for a -.116 with 9 kills and 14 errors.
Sophomore
Mariah Straker earned the most kills for the Patriots (4), while
Kaitlyn Hess earned the most digs (9).
Match Three: Valley Forge 0, Elizabethtown College 3
With the second day of the tournament starting, the Patriots attempted a fight against the Blue Jays. However, Elizabethtown maintained steady control, allowing the Patriots to score a lonely 16 points. Although the Patriots were able to collect a .122 clip, the Blue Jays contested 40 kills out of a massive 101 attempts. The Blue Jays were also prominent at the serving line, gathering 15 aces against the Patriots.
Libero
Jasmine Vargas gave her all in the back row as she poised together 16 digs on the match.
Match Four: Valley Forge 0, SUNY Cortland 3
As the tournament was coming to a close, the Patriots were defeated by the Dragons of SUNY Cortland. The Dragons held a 56-11 point advantage, only allowing the Patriots six kills out of their 44 attempts. The Dragons dictated net play as they collected 39 kills with 35 assists.

Hannah Hawryluk leading in service aces (2), and assists (3). Freshman
Melanie-Ann Torres and junior
Hope Salata both finished the match with seven digs.
"We knew this weekend was going to be difficult for us," first-year head coach
Jessica Rink said. "Although we didn't get the outcome we wanted, we were able to focus on the small wins within our team to help us prepare for our upcoming games."
The Patriots will not play again until next Saturday, September 28
th, in Baltimore, MD, as they will compete in a tri-match against Medgar Evers College and Notre Dame of Maryland.
