La Plum, PA– The University of Valley Forge Men's Baseball team had a conference away double header against the Keystone College Giants and dropped two games, 10-1 and 7-5.
Game 1
The Patriots played hard in game one, but could not shake off the Giants. This was in large part due to fantastic pitching from Mohammed Hussein. He allowed only 2 hits in 5 innings and had 6 strike outs. The win goes to Mohammed Hussein for the Gaints, the loss goes to Shashwat Chitnis for the Patriots.
Game 2
The Patriots came alive! Despite going down 7 runs by the top of the 7th the squad did not lose hope. They found a fire within themselves and pushed back with an amazing 7th inning. This spark started with Jeffery Espinal who hit a double to right field to bring in Richard Cosgrove and Joesph Aguiar to put the game within 5 points. Chandler Beard followed up with a single to left field bringing in Jeffery Espinal, putting the game to within 4 points, and placing Jordan Pina in scoring position. With the bases now loaded Jagger Blough had a SAC fly to center field bringing in Jordan Pina and putting the game to within 3 points. Waldo Odens Jr. was next up to bat and he did not disappoint, he brought in Chandler Beard making the game 7-5 with one out left. Unfortunately, the team was unable to pull through taking a heartbreakingly close loss against a team that has a 90% win rate against ACAA opponents.
The Patriots will play Keystone College Again in a home game on April the 29th at Ursinus College.
