Game Recap: Softball |

Patriots Finish The Season Strong Vs Bulldogs

Pheonixville, PA– The University of Valley Forge Women's Softball team played in a double header against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs here at home. The Patriots won both games winning 9-7 in the first game, and winning the second game 10-6. Today we also celebrated our senior, Lindsay LeSueuer who dedicated 4 years to multiple sports. We want to thank Lindsay for all she has done for the program and wish her good blessing's as she continues her journey.

Game 1

Game one was a close one with the Patriots taking a one run lead early on. As the game went on it was clear that this was not gonna be an easy win. With the game all tied up coming into the bottom of the fifth, Shania walker hit a double deep to center field to bring in Lindsay LeSueur, and Kaitlyn Hess also reached on an error which put the game to 6-4 for the Patriots. The Bulldogs did not give up and answered back with a 3 run inning at the top of the 6th, putting them up 7-6. Kaitlyn Hess decided that she wanted a win, so she hit a huge triple to left field that brought in Lindsay LeSueur and Kimberly Acosta. Lindsay on the pitching side, wrapped the game up at the top of the 7th striking out 2 of the 3 batters she faced totaling 9 strikeouts in the game for her. Lindsay LeSueur earned the win for the Patriots and Megan Ortiz-Mengedoht takes the loss for the Bulldogs.

Game 2

The Patriots took a commanding leading lead in game 2 at the top of the fourth and held strong for the rest of the game. This was in large part due to some strong hitting from the Patriot's who had 17 hits in the game. Kaitlyn Hess and Kimberly Acosta shined bright, and provided the team with a combined 6 hits and 8 RBI's. The duo stepped up in big situations and sealed the game away with a solid 5th and 6th inning. Lindsay LeSueur stepped up to the mound again replacing Carlee Conrad at the top of third and finished the game off allowing only 2 runs against 18 at bats. The win goes to  Lindsay LeSueur for the Patriots, and the loss goes to Megan Ortiz-Mengedoht for the Bulldogs.
